Community Outreach
Tulsa AWC Community Outreach
In addition to the friendship, networking and professional development provided to its members, the Tulsa Chapter also supports several community programs and events.
Partner in Education
In September 2010, the Tulsa Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications voted to become a Partner in Education with Webster High School ‘s Broadcasting and Digital Media Magnet program. As part of the partnership, AWC will donate funds to the program raised by the annual Newsmakers Awards Luncheon. Members are also encouraged to get involved as guest speakers, job shadow mentors or internship hosts. For more information about the Webster magnet program, contact Beth Turner at bethturner@me.com.
Holiday Gifts for Needy
For several years, the Tulsa Chapter has sponsored a family or individuals in need during the holidays. Most recently, the Tulsa chapter adopted a family through Family & Children’s Services and bought them Christmas gifts and items they needed.
